About this event

This workshop will bring people together to co-produce solutions to improve holistic health and social care for people experiencing homelessness in coastal and rural regions of Northumberland and North Tyneside.

Holistic health and social care is an approach to healthcare that takes into account the whole person, rather than just their physical symptoms or medical conditions. It considers the individual's physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual well-being, and aims to promote overall health and wellness.

People experiencing homelessness often experience barriers to accessing appropriate help and support in a timely manner. Our research project aims to find solutions to address these issues in Northumberland and North Tyneside.

This project is a collaboration between Fuse, NIHR Applied Research Collaboration North East and North Cumbria, Newcastle University, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, North Tyneside Council, Northumberland County Council, Changing Lives, and Northumberland Citizens Advice.

What will I gain from this?

We will share findings from our research on health and care needs of people experiencing homelessness in Northumberland and North Tyneside. This includes hospital emergency data, in-depth interviews with people experiencing homelessness and staff – as well as mapping support for people experiencing homelessness in these regions. Workshop discussions will focus on what needs to change to enable better holistic support and access to health and care for people experiencing homelessness. We will work together to identify the system constraints as well as key enablers for this change.
