  • End: Thu, 05 Mar 2015 13:30:00 GMT

This meeting, organised by Fuse and the Institute for Local Governance (ILG), will provide protected time, expert practitioner input, discussion and a chance to plan for action across traditional sector boundaries.  The topics for discussion have been identified by the North East Directors of Public Health.

Speaker

Survivor of 13 re-organisations, John Middleton (Vice President of the Faculty of Public Health and previously DPH for Sandwell in the West Midlands) will share his experiences of working across partners to improve the lives of ordinary people – against a backdrop of tight budgets in post-industrial settings.

Background

In October 2014 a Health Summit, organised by ANEC (the Association of North East Councils) was held in Durham, gathering together senior decision makers across the North East.  Guest speakers included Duncan Selbie, Chief Executive, Public Health England and the Rt Hon Andy Burnham, Shadow Secretary of State for Health.  The summit included four workshops of which one was entitled “Policy into Practice”. This explored how we can share ideas of ‘what works’ to improve peoples’ health and wellbeing and work together to take action.  This meeting is a follow-up with a distinguished guest speaker, John Middleton, and thinking time to develop ideas for action.

Please note that attendance at this meeting is by invitation only.
