Post-doctoral Researcher/Researcher, ESADE Business School

The Insitute for Social Innovation at ESADE Business School is searching for a Postdoctoral Researcher or a Master’s Graduate (with interest in pursuing a PhD), interested in community action, health, process evaluation of contextual and policy factors, and working in an international environment with several countries.

The candidate will join the research group at the Institute for Social Innovation at ESADE and the larger international reasearch team of SCALA, the Horizon 2020 project s/he will be involved in.

SCALA (Scale-up Prevention and Management of Alcohol Use Disorders and Comorbid Depression in Latin America), aims to scale up an evidence-based approach to scale up prevention and management of Alcohol and Depression within municipal settings in Colombia, Mexico and Peru.   The research part for which ESADE will be responsible involves to assess the city-based actions and partnerships that will be set up in each intervention site to support the implementation in primary health care (PHC), identifying the most effective community mechanisms, the barriers and facilitators for scale up, and drawing a validated framework for scaling up across countries. Work will for example, include developing protocls for process evaluation in the SCALA implementation countries, to identify the ambition for scale-up at municipal and PHC levels, and to identify barriers, policy developments, contextual facilitators, and analyse the impact of early adopters, project champions, and other factors hindering or facilitating the scaling up process.

The candidate will be involved in leading this research and will also contribute with his/her expertise to other projects, and, over time, to develop and run other European Research projects and multi-country collaborations, as part of the wider team.

We are looking for a candidate with strong skills in project management, process evaluation, undertaking contextual and policy analyses, and translating different situational variables, barriers and facilitators into general frameworks. A research trajectory with strong qualitative evaluation using latest frameworks and studying context and policy impacts on behaviour will be a plus. S/he will have excellent oral and weritten communcation skills in English and Spanish, strong qualitative analytic skills and flexibility for travel. The job position is based in ESADE (Barcelona and Sant Cugat Campus).

The position is offered for 3 years, starting in February 2018. For a Postdoc this will be equivalent to 3 days/week with an annual salary of 30,000€ pro rata (depending on research experience). For a researcher (wanting to pursue a PhD within the project) it would be up to full time (starting at 16.400€  year, according to experience).
